Increases early yields. The largest benefit from black polyethylene mulch is the increase in soil temperature in the bed, which promotes faster crop development and earlier yields.
Inhibits weed growth. Black polythene mulch greatly inhibit light penetration to the soil. Therefore, weed seedlings cannot survive under the mulch.
Decreases soil compaction. Mulch acts as a barrier to the action of rainfall, which can cause soil crusting, compaction, and erosion. Less-compacted soil provides a better environment for seedling emergence and root growth.
This 30 micron thick black polythene is 1 metre wide by 250 metres continuous length supplied on a roll. Its extremely easy to lay direct from the roll and all you need is a sharp knife to criss cross through the sheet where you require openings for crops to emerge ( and rainfall to enter ) as shown in above pictures.
